Artist's Comments
The snow started melting quite a bit this week-end, I therefore got my pants and socks pretty wet to take this shot!
It was taken late in the morning with a very bright and high-up sun, which was casting shadows through the trees. The light and the angle really outlines the snow well, and the apple just looks like it wants to be eaten.
I'm really happy with this shot, especially about the textures and colors, and of course the uncommon-ness of seeing an apple in the snow.
There's not much post-processing in this picture. Levels were already perfect, I adjusted hue/saturation a tiny bit, as well as contrasts a minimal amount. I did a bit of filtering to bring out the snow and apple a bit more, but I masked out the background in this filtering as it was distracting for it to come out too much.
